Eclectic Birds and Other Ornaments

Each piece is individually made and is unique. The ornaments are decorated on the front and "signed" and dated on the back in thread. The brooches are not signed, but just have a pin on the back. Origins: You may be wondering where the idea for these eclectic birds and things originated. A few years back, I was having trouble thinking of something to make as Christmas presents for my family... to get past the "crafter's block" that I seemed to have, I went through my stash and collected a bunch of various supplies that seemed well-suited to be used on an ornament of some sort. I put the supplies in a box and then just sat down and played with the bits and pieces until inspiration struck. I decided to make ornament sets made up of a heart, a star, and a bird... and I just decorated the heck out of em! The hearts and stars were a bit of a struggle for some reason, but the birds just flew together. (No pun intended!) The birds just felt right, so I wanted to just keep on making them... or really, it almost seems like letting them make themselves! I made a template for the basic body, but the surface design is never planned in advance and is all done free-hand. I do hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of the little critters!
